The event is sponsored by CDPHP and supported by Best Cleaners. Proceeds from the evening will benefit both The Proctor’s Scholarship Fund and The ARC of Rensselaer County. Formal dresses can be dropped off at any area Best Cleaners locations. 99.5 The River Morning Show’s Kevin & Tracy will also broadcast live in the month prior to the event at some local high schools.

“We’re excited to expand on this community event giving even more area students the opportunity to find an affordable prom dress of their dreams,” said Rob VanDerbeck, Market President for iHeartMedia Albany. “It means a lot to iHeart and our stations to support our local students on a milestone occasion such as prom; being able to help some of our area’s charitable organizations makes this event even more meaningful.”

The “99.5 The River Pay Less for the Dress” has been an annual event for the station since 2015. The event went on hiatus in 2020 due to the pandemic. Other past recipients of funds raised have included The Bernard and Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Med; Big Brothers Big Sisters and The Center for Disability Services.
