The Music Leaders Network, a professional development initiative aimed at women, trans, and non-binary individuals in the music industry, has officially opened applications for its September 2026 cohort. This marks the first cohort announcement following the program’s recognition with the Outstanding Contribution Award from the European trade body IMPALA. The program is UK-based but welcomes applicants from across Europe, with a notable 18% of previous participants already hailing from various European countries including Germany, Ireland, and Sweden.
In collaboration with the Greater Manchester Music Commission, the Music Leaders Network is also offering a bursary to support one delegate from the Manchester area, covering fees and travel expenses to participate in the program. This initiative aims to foster a supportive environment for mid-career professionals, creating a robust peer-to-peer network that empowers participants to thrive in their careers.
Alumni of the program include influential figures from organizations such as PPL, Polydor, and AIM Ireland, as well as independent music creators. Remi Harris MBE, a key figure in the program, emphasizes the need for resilience in the music industry, especially in light of recent challenges. He highlights that the program not only builds confidence among participants but also encourages them to support the growth of others within the industry.
Participants often enter the program feeling disconnected or uninspired, but by the end of the five-month experience, many report a renewed enthusiasm for their careers. Tamara Gal-On, another advocate for the program, notes that it breaks down silos, allowing participants to connect across different areas of the industry, which significantly enhances their professional outlook.
As the application window remains open until June 5, 2026, prospective participants are encouraged to engage in online Q&A sessions to learn more about the program.
