This Thursday evening, the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw community will be treated to some old school fun. Hip-hop royalty Doug E Fresh and Slick Rick the Ruler will take the stage at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw for an exciting evening as part of the BHCP Live! free summer concert series that continues through the end of August. Doors open at 5:30pm on the mall’s outdoor promenade with a variety of food options from Baldwin Hills Crenshaw restaurants, including Cupcake Wars winner Southern Girl Desserts, Fatburger, Fleur de Yucatan, and Buffalo Wild Wings.

A few lucky guests will also have access to an exclusive VIP experience, where they will walk the red carpet, enjoy refreshments from Coca Cola, and receive free “swag bags.” Concert-goers can enter to win VIP passes on the mall’s website: www.baldwinhillscrenshawplaza.com. Doug E Fresh, best known as the Human Beat Box, and Slick Rick the Ruler will take the stage at 6:30pm. The duo first collaborated in 1984 when Slick Rick the Ruler joined the “Get Fresh Crew” as MC Ricky D.

They released several hits including “La Di Da Di,” which has gained the reputation as an early hip-hop classic. The audience is encouraged to add to the energy of the evening by wearing their Adidas shell shoes, Kangol hats and showing off their old school style. Outdoor seating is on a first come first serve basis.

Free parking is available in the structure across from Rave Cinemas and throughout the mall property.
