BYRON HARRELL NAMED DFW MUSIC DIRECTOR, CBS RADIO

 width=Byron “Ron” Harrell has been named Director of Music Programming for CBS RADIO’s Dallas-Fort Worth stations, effective Sept. 17. Harrell will serve as program director for KVIL-FM (Lite 103.7 fm) and KLUV-FM (98.7 KLUV) and will also provide strategic guidance for all CBS RADIO Dallas music brands.”Ron is uniquely qualified to lead the very talented teams at our music stations,” said Brian Purdy, Market Manager for CBS RADIO Dallas-Fort Worth. “He brings a wealth of creative ideas and a lot of energy to this position.”With 23 years’ experience in program management, Harrell has led various formats at stations in Detroit, Denver, Nashville and Jackson, Miss. He also has extensive on-air experience. Most recently, he was Program Director for WDVD/WDRQ/WJR Detroit and Regional Operations Manager for Cumulus Broadcasting‘s 47 stations in the Michigan/Northwest Ohio region. Prior to that, he was station manager at Cumulus’ Detroit stations 96.3 WDVD and 93.1 WDRQ.”I’m honored to be a member of this team,” Harrell said, “and this will be fun. We’re going to roll up our sleeves, play the hits and create great ear candy for our listeners.”Harrell holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Abilene Christian University, where he has been recognized as a distinguished alumnus with ACU’s Gutenberg Award.
