This deal, valued at approximately $200 million, encompasses some of her most iconic hits, including Oops!…I Did It Again, Toxic, and Womanizer.

Primary Wave, a notable player in the music publishing sector, also holds rights to the catalogs of other prominent artists such as Stevie Nicks and the estates of Prince and Biggie Smalls. The agreement for Spears’ catalog was executed on December 30, 2025, although neither party has publicly commented on the transaction.

This sale marks a pivotal moment for Spears, who was released from her conservatorship in 2021. Since then, she has stated her intention to step away from the music industry, emphasizing her focus on writing for others rather than pursuing new releases. Her last studio album, Glory, was released in August 2016, and she has since shifted her creative efforts towards ghostwriting.
