ASCAP’s 4th Annual Women Behind the Music Series to Honor Top Industry Females

 width=The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers ()  kicks off its 4th annual  ASCAP Presents”¦ Women Behind the  tomorrow in New York at swanky Meatpacking District club Tenjune. The series is designed to encourage and recognize women in the music community, highlighting not only women and artists, but women working in all facets of the business, including managers, attorneys, label executives and music publishers. Following the event in New York, the series will then head to Los Angeles on October 17th and Atlanta on October 18th.

Each of the three events will feature three or four honorees and a moderator. The honorees will be presented with a special memento in recognition of their contributions to music. Previous honorees include ASCAP songwriters  Janelle Monáe,  ,  ,  ,  ,.,  Kandi Burruss,  Goapele  and R&B girl group  Electrik Red.

“We created the Women Behind the Music series to recognize the immense contributions that women make across all areas of the music business,” said  ASCAP Vice President of Membership, Rhythm & Soul Nicole George. “Each woman we have honored since our inaugural event three years ago is a legend in her own right, and I’m thrilled to continue this amazing series with another round of outstanding and deserving honorees.”

Tuesday, October 16

New York honorees include DJ and BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Inc. Founder  Beverly Bond, Island/Def Jam Music Group Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs  Nicole Wyskoarko  and Universal Music Publishing Senior Vice President and Co-Head of East Coast Operations  Jessica Rivera. The evening will be moderated by ASCAP Vice President, Membership – Rhythm & Soul  Nicole George, with music by  DJ Fame Cohen  and a special performance by RCA recording artist  Sterling Simms.

Wednesday, October 17

Los Angeles honorees include The Recording Academy West Regional Director  Lizzy Moore, FOX Broadcasting Company Vice President of Music and Production, On Air Promotion  Mamie Coleman,  ICM Partners Concerts Agent  Caroline Yim  and artist-songwriter  . The evening will be moderated by  , and feature a special performance by Epic Records recording artist  NYLO.

Thursday, October 18

Atlanta honorees include B. Lawrence Watkins & Associates Attorney  Bernie Lawrence-Watkins, songwriter and recording artist  Crystal Nicole  and GRAMMY -winning songwriter and singerTameka “Tiny” Harris. The evening will be moderated by V103 Radio Personality & HGTV Host  Egypt Sherrod, and feature a special performance by R&B singer-songwriter  Mylah.
