The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) will host its sixth annual ascap Presents…Women Behind the Music series in New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, sponsored by MYX Fusions Moscato.The Women Behind the Music series is designed to encourage and recognize women in the music community, honoring not only singers and songwriters but also female executives in all facets of the business including managers, attorneys, label executives and music publishers. This year, ascap will kick off the series simultaneously in New York and Los Angeles on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 and conclude in Atlanta on Tuesday, October 28, 2014.The event honors three women in each city – The New York series will honor Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Jazmine Sullivan, celebrity deejay JaKissa “DJ Kiss” Taylor-Semple, and Sam Selolwane, Vice President of Promotions at RCA. Los Angeles will honor singer-songwriter K. Michelle, Billboard’s Senior Editor Gail Mitchell, and Motown Record’s Vice President of Creative Relations Myisha Brooks. The series will wrap in Atlanta with honorees Mali Hunter, General Manager of Tree Sound Studios, and CEO of Mizay Entertainment Debra Antney. Each event is kicked off with a Q&A session that is moderated by an ascap executive and followed by a post cocktail reception with special performances.
