Joey Bada$$ Celebrates 50 Years of Hip-Hop

Today, multiplatinum chart-topping rapper Joey Bada$$, who appeared in the Academy� Award-winning film Distant Strangers, commemorates the one-year anniversary of his highly-acclaimed third studio album, 2000, with the announcement of a special performance. On July 20th, Joey Bada$$ will be performing a special City Sessions concert with Amazon Music on the Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City.

Part of “50 & Forever”�the celebration of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary from Amazon Music�the performance will find Joey sharing the stage with Wale and Curren$y and will be streamed live to fans around the world on the Amazon Music channel on Twitch. Fans in New York can purchase tickets to the performance here and watch the stream on July 20 at 4:00 p.m. PDT/7:00 p.m. EDT here. Renowned as one of hip-hop’s consummate showmen, expect an unforgettable performance from Joey.

Taking a look back at 2000, the album represented a critical and creative high watermark for Joey. Among many highlights, 2000 has garnered over 340 million total streams worldwide. In addition, Joey delivered a show-stopping performance of “Show Me” on NBC’s The Tonight Show, Starring Jimmy Fallon. Boasting a stacked guest list with JID, Larry June, Diddy, Capella Gray, and Westside Gunn, it also incited the applause of Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, who observed, “You’ve heard Joey rap like this before, but the scope is plusher, a Bad Boy veneer slathered over corner-bred rhyme schemes.

Released in July of 2022, the album spawned Joey’s most recent singles, “Fallin’ and “Show Me.” Since being released in April, the track has garnered critical acclaim from tastemakers such as COMPLEX, VIBE, REVOLT, and UPROXX, to name a few. Meanwhile, “Show Me,” a short film featuring Serayah has amassed millions of views.

Infiltrating culture, the Brooklyn native is also a series regular on STARZ original Power Book III: Raising Kanan. He will continue to tour throughout the summer with Lollapalooza up next.
