In a recent turn of events, warrants obtained by WSB TV revealed that there may be a possible connection between a 16-year-old and a police officer who is being accused of dumping her body in the woods. Susana Morales disappeared on the night of July 26, 2022, and her remains were found months later on Feb. 6, off Highway 316 near the Barrow County line.
On Monday, former Doraville police officer, Miles Bryant, was charged with concealing the death of another and filing a false report of a crime. According to Bryant’s arrest warrants, the 22-year-old lived at an apartment complex off Windscape Village Lane, which is where Morales was last seen.
Police say that Morales’ phone location last showed her on Singleton Lane near Windscape Village between 10:07 p.m. and 10:21 p.m. on July 26. The warrant application revealed that the officer “lives in close proximity to the victim and dumped her naked body in the woods.”
The warrants also reveal that on the day after Morales’ disappearance, Bryant filed a police report claiming that his gun was stolen after his car was broken into at the apartment complex. Police charged Bryant with a false report of a crime.
Although police are still working to determine the cause of Morales’ death, her sister expressed relief that progress was being made in the case.
