Cities 97.1, Uniquely Twin Cities, announced today the debut of “Brian Oake in the Morning,” effective immediately. “Brian Oake in the Morning” will broadcast weekdays from 6 10 a.m.

A Twin Cities native, Oake has been a familiar voice in the local music scene for more than 25 years. The new morning show will feature Oake’s signature irreverence and quick wit while he banters with co-host Brianne Burdette about music, popular culture and all things Minnesota.

Oake joined the Cities 97.1 team in 2001 after having made a name for himself in the Minneapolis market. After a 15 year run with Cities 97.1, he left to co-host the morning show on KCMP for several years, and now returns to Cities 97.1 to host his brand new show.

“Brian Oake is a part of the history and fabric of the station,” said Rich Davis, Program Director for Cities 97.1. “From his afternoon show back in 2001 when he started with us, to his time as my morning man, he personifies this radio station. He is uniquely Twin Cities and I’m so excited to have him back anchoring weekday mornings.”

“Cities 97.1 has been so much a part of my career and such a major part of Twin Cities radio history,” Oake said. “I am honored to be a part of its continued story.”

iHeartMedia is the leading media outlet in the Minneapolis market with multiple platforms, including its broadcast stations; live events; data; and its digital businesses and platforms, including mobile, social and its own iHeartRadio, iHeartMedia’s free all-in-one digital music, podcasting and live streaming radio service with 3 billion app downloads and more than 150 million registered users.
