Spotify Highlights Australian Music’s Global Expansion

Spotify has released its Australian Music Global Impact List, showcasing the increasing global influence of Australian artists. The list, now expanded to a Top 50 ranking, highlights the tracks with the most significant international impact on Spotify throughout 2025, reflecting a 69% increase in global streams of Australian artists since 2020.

Leading the list is Sia, who has made history by becoming the first artist to top Spotify’s Global Impact List twice. Her collaboration with David Guetta, “Beautiful People,” was recognized as the most-streamed Australian song internationally in 2025. Tame Impala also made a notable impact, with seven tracks from their latest album, “Deadbeat,” making the Top 50, including the highly ranked “Dracula.” The Kid LAROI continued his global success with multiple entries, including a collaboration with Tate McRae that reached number three.

The list also featured emerging artists, such as Lithe, who debuted at number four, and kiki wera, whose track “Pool (Gravagerz Version)” secured a Top 10 position. This trend indicates a diversification of Australian talent reaching international audiences. Moreover, classic tracks like The Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition” have seen renewed success through remixes, demonstrating the value of catalogue longevity in the streaming landscape.

Geographically, the United States remains the primary market for Australian music, followed by the UK and Germany. However, emerging markets such as South Africa, the Philippines, and Colombia are gaining traction, indicating a shift in global demand. This evolution highlights how streaming platforms have transformed the music export landscape, allowing Australian artists to build global audiences and expand their reach effectively.
