Spotify has released its Australian Music Global Impact List for 2025, showcasing a significant advancement in the global presence of Australian artists. The updated list, now featuring a Top 50 ranking, identifies the Australian tracks that have made the most substantial international impact on the platform, reflecting a 69% increase in global streams for local artists since 2020.

This year marks a pivotal moment for the Australian music industry, as streaming services have effectively eliminated geographical barriers, positioning platforms like Spotify as vital export channels for Australian talent. Sia stands out as a key figure, becoming the first artist to secure the top spot on the Global Impact List twice, with her collaboration with David Guetta, “Beautiful People,” achieving the highest international streams from Australia in 2025.

Other prominent artists include Tame Impala, whose album “Deadbeat” produced seven entries in the Top 50, with “Dracula” ranking second overall. The Kid LAROI also maintained strong global traction, placing seven tracks on the list, including his collaboration with Tate McRae, which reached number three. Emerging artists, such as Lithe and kiki wera, further illustrate the diversity and growth of Australian music on the global stage.

The report also emphasizes a notable trend in the streaming economy: the enduring popularity of catalogue tracks. Remixes of classic hits, such as The Temper Traps “Sweet Disposition,” have re-entered international playlists, underscoring the commercial viability of older material in todays music landscape. This shift highlights how music consumption patterns are evolving, allowing tracks to gain traction long after their initial release.

Spotify’s data indicates that while the United States remains the primary market for Australian music, there is a growing demand from countries like Brazil, Mexico, and South Africa, which have seen export growth rates of 99% and higher. This diversification of markets signifies a transformative period for Australian music, now positioned as a dynamic contributor to the global music ecosystem.
