ROLAND S. MARTIN & WENDY WILLIAMS TALK RACE IN AMERICA

ROLAND S. MARTIN & WENDY TALK RACE IN AMERICA

Today, July 14th, on The Wendy Williams Show, “News One Now” host Roland S. Martin sat down with Wendy to talk about Historically Black Colleges and the NAACP.

The TV Commentator Roland S. Martin took issue with Wendy’s comments on HBCU’s last week. Wendy apologized for these comments and invited Roland S. Martin on the show to educate Wendy and her audience on this important issue. Wendy started the interview, “Roland help everyone understand why I was so wrong.”

“When it comes to our colleges, we couldn’t go to those schools,” Roland said. “As a matter of fact, we couldn’t read during slavery. You could be killed if you were found to be reading. So, that’s why it is so critically important. Our institutions are allowing us to survive in America even though we built this country,” explained Martin.

Roland also weighed in on race in America, police brutality and the Black Lives Matter movement. In addition, he spoke to Wendy about how we can talk to our kids about these prevalent issues. As Roland said, “Race is tied to everything. Race is embedded in the DNA of America.” View the full interview below.
