Killers Convicted in Richmond Teens Brutal Shooting Death

On Wednesday, two out of the five suspects accused in the tragic death of a 15-year-old girl who was shot while walking to a store in Richmond were convicted of first-degree murder. The victim, Tynashia Humphrey, lost her life last September near Gilpin Court, as stated by the authorities. A thorough investigation revealed that Humphrey was unfortunately caught in the crossfire between two rival groups.

Savonne Henderson, a 24-year-old, and Tyree Coley, a 21-year-old, were among the individuals charged with first-degree murder and additional offenses related to Humphrey’s death. When the trial commenced on June 14, both Henderson and Coley pleaded not guilty. Following a multi-day trial held at the Richmond Circuit Court, Henderson and Coley were found guilty on Wednesday, as reported by Rolynn Wilson from 8News, who was present in the courtroom.

During the court proceedings, the prosecutors argued that Henderson and Coley were affiliated with a gang and that the shooting arose from an ongoing dispute. However, the defense maintained that there were lingering uncertainties regarding the identity of the person who fired the fatal shot. They contended that there was no evidence to prove that either Henderson or Coley were responsible for Humphrey’s killing.

Although the jury convicted both defendants on multiple charges, including the use of a firearm during a felony, attempted murder of another individual, and the use of a firearm in the commission of attempted murder, questions regarding the specific shooter persisted. The sentencing for Henderson and Coley is scheduled for September 18 at 10 a.m. Source.
