A neighbor killed a man who shot his own mother. The woman was shot multiple times in their North Houston apartment, said authorities.
Near Highland Cross Drive and Trevor Way, around 12:45 a.m., on Tuesday morning, the incident took place.
The mother and son were in their apartment, and the son had been drinking when he began acting strange, deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office learned.
His mother was shot several times when the disturbed young man began shooting in the apartment. A neighbor living in the same complex grabbed his firearm and confronted the suspect.
Investigators said the neighbor shot the man because he believed the shooter would kill his mother.
The mother was taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said homicide investigators are still sorting out the case, and the case will be referred to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office when finished.
