The Robbery

The victim withdrew approximately $2,000 from an ATM for a birthday party. Upon returning home, his car was broken into, and the robbers stole the money. The robbery was captured on neighborhood surveillance cameras, which showed a white SUV as the getaway vehicle.

Police Pursuit

The next morning, Costa Mesa police spotted a white SUV with stolen license plates, suspecting it to be the vehicle involved in the robbery. The vehicle was later confirmed to be the same one used in the Rancho Cucamonga incident. A pursuit ensued, involving sheriff’s deputies from Rancho Cucamonga and Costa Mesa police.

Pursuit Details

During the pursuit, the driver initially stopped and surrendered, but the passenger took over the wheel and continued to flee. The suspects eventually abandoned the SUV in Hawthorne. The driver was apprehended, but the second suspect remains at large.

Conclusion

The incident highlights the growing concern over follow-home robberies and the dangerous pursuits that can ensue. Authorities are continuing their investigation to apprehend the remaining suspect and prevent similar crimes in the future.
