Lykkie Li’s Inaugural YOLA DÍA Festival, held at LA Historic State Park last Sunday, August 18th, was the first women’s festival to hit L.A.in 20 years.In a society where women have a hard time getting fair treatment on festival bills or deserving headlining spots, Yola Día is taking the woman-made festival one step further.Yola Día Festival is a rare practice in modern festival custom. Better than slowly mixing more women into a list. This festival is focusing its mission on women.Renowned activist Dolores Huerta, who unveiled an art installation of one-of-a-kind flags that were auctioned off to benefit the ACLU, started the day with a speech.
The rest of the day include performances by female artists Lykke Li selected herself. They are: Lia Ices, CupcakKe, Empress Of, Kelsey Lu, Megan Thee Stallion, Courtney Love & The Chateau Band, SOPHIE, Cat Power. The Lykkie Li’s Inaugural YOLA DÍA Festival ended with Lykke Li thrilling the audience with a dance party on stage.
YOLA DÍA Festival as a means of Women unionism
Megan Thee Stallion made her fans know ’s still having a “Hot Girl Summer” by performing her hit single. While Courtney Love, who played a bunch of Hole songs and covers of Fleetwood Mac’s “Gold Dust Woman” and Echo and the Bunny-men’s “The Killing Moon, magnified the crowd.”
Other than the Musicians, there’s a team of all-women bartenders, restaurateurs who presented their work at the Lykkie Li’s Inaugural YOLA DÍA Festival in Los Angeles’s Historic State Park.
Well-known party goers that were present at Lykkie Li’s Inaugural YOLA DÍA Festival are Karen O., Spike Jonze, King Princess, Brandon Boyd, Rostam, Kelly Osbourne, Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer, and more.
Also, $1 out of every ticket from the Live Nation produced event is forwarded to The Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles.It is an organization solely serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness. Yola Día is trying to be a festival run solely by women, in every aspect.
