In her role, Segura will oversee critical initiatives including all-women songwriting camps, a global creator database, mentorship programs, and advocacy efforts. She will also enhance community collaborations with labels, educational institutions, and management companies, ensuring that all initiatives align with the organization’s goals for equity and representation.

Segura’s background includes five years as the executive director of MusiCares, where she led significant pandemic relief efforts that provided over 140,000 services and distributed $35.7 million. Before that, she was the Vice President of Membership & Industry Relations for the Recording Academy, where she developed strong connections within the industry.

Alicia Keys, co-founder of She Is The Music, expressed her enthusiasm for Segura’s appointment, stating that Segura has dedicated her career to uplifting others and creating support systems that ensure no one is left behind. Keys believes Segura’s understanding of the challenges women face in this industry will be vital as the organization pushes for meaningful change.

With over 30 years at the company, Smarr will take on expanded responsibilities in strategic initiatives and deal integrations, continuing to lead the Global and North American Copyright Administration teams.
