Justin Bieber’s Coachella Headline Ignites Massive Streaming Surge for Publishers and Songwriters

Music Business News

Publishers and songwriters holding stakes in Justin Bieber’s deep catalog are cashing in big right now, as his Coachella headline detonated a streaming explosion that proves live spectacle still drives royalty checks in the DSP era.

Bieber’s Streams Explode Post-Coachella

Justin Bieber’s highly-anticipated return to the stage has unsurprisingly led to a spike in streams for the pop star. According to preliminary data from Luminate, Biebers music was streamed 24.6 million times in the U.S. on April 12, the day after he headlined Coachella. That was a 54 percent jump from his total streams on April 11 (15.9 million), and a 74 percent leap from April 10 (14.1 million). The 24.6 million streams Bieber enjoyed on April 12 also made it his biggest streaming day of the year so far, and largest since July 18, 2025, one week after he released Swag.

Spotify shared data showing that Biebers music enjoyed a 250 percent increase in streams globally on that platform since Coachella.

Back Catalog Classics Resurrected

While thats boosted songs across Biebers discography, his Coachella set which featured his two Swag records alongside old favorites appears to have really benefited his back catalog. For instance, Biebers 2010 hit U Smile jumped a whopping 600 percent versus its average totals; 2012s One Love rose by 550 percent; and Favorite Girl which Bieber hasnt performed live in over a decade surged by 310 percent. Other 2010s classics enjoying a boost were Never Say Never (320 percent), As Long As You Love Me (340 percent), and Baby (170 percent, though maybe Geese can take some partial credit for that).

New Tracks Ride the Wave Too

Fans arent ignoring Biebers newer material either. Streams of I Do off Swag II rose by 435 percent, while All I Can Take and Walking Away, both off Swag, saw boosts of 320 and 310 percent, respectively. Additionally, I Think Youre Special featuring Tems, and Devotion featuring Dijon, rose by 280 percent and 240 percent, respectively; both Tems and Dijon joined Bieber for performances of those songs at Coachella.

Fellow Headliner Karol G Joins the Surge

Bieber isnt the only artist to see a streaming boost from Coachella weekend one, with his fellow headliner Karol G also enjoying Spotify surges. Karols global streams jumped 14.3 percent, while in the U.S., her streams spiked more than double that with 35 percent.

Stage Return After Long Hiatus

For Bieber, his Coachella set marked his first major public performance since his Justice tour ended in 2022. Bieber postponed, then canceled the run while dealing with a series of health issues. Since then, hes been largely absent from the stage, outside a handful of private gigs and TV performances. Ahead of Coachella, he took the stage at the Roxy in Los Angeles for an invite-only event for fans.

Watch whether Bieber’s streaming momentum sustains through Coachella weekend two, with publishers tracking if back catalog royalties keep climbing alongside new releases.
