BATON LipSync Wins 2020 NAB Show Award

Interra Systems, a leading global provider of software products and solutions to the digital media industry, today announced that its BATON LipSync solution has won the 2020 NAB Show Product of the Year Award, one of the industry’s most prestigious honors recognizing significant and promising new products and technologies. Leveraging computer vision and machine learning (ML) technologies, BATON LipSync automatically detects audio-video sync errors in media content, helping broadcasters and service providers deliver a superior quality of experience (QoE) to viewers.

“The best type of technology innovation is the one that answers a critical industry need,” said Anupama Anantharaman, vice president, product management at Interra Systems. “Lip sync-related solutions have eluded the media industry due to the inherent complexity involved. BATON LipSync replaces a time-consuming, expensive manual process with faster and more accurate machine-assisted detection by leveraging years of R&D experience in computer vision, and the latest AI and deep neural network methods and algorithms. Winning the NAB Show Product of the Year Award recognizes our team’s achievements in addressing this important industry requirement.”

LipSync is a powerful audio-video synchronization software for lip sync detection and verification featuring the unique capability of performing facial detection, facial tracking, lip detection, lip activity detection, and speech identification. Compared with the traditional approach of manually checking for lip sync errors, the ML-based method is much faster and more precise. Ultimately, BATON LipSync helps broadcasters and service providers deliver a better quality of experience.

“Nominees like Interra Systems reflect the spirit of the NAB Show community by advancing and changing the landscape through dynamic innovation,” said Chris Brown, executive vice president of conventions and business operations at NAB. “The 2020 NAB Show Product of the Year Awards highlight the best of what’s new, and they have quickly become the premier launchpad for breakthroughs at the intersection of media, entertainment, and technology.”

NAB Show Product of the Year Award Winners were selected by a panel of industry experts in 19 categories and were announced on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the NAB Show New York digital experience. Watch the video here.
