The IBMA Foundation has unveiled a new scholarship designed specifically for students pursuing careers in live music production. Established by Claire Armbruster and Jeff Koontz, co-owners of Planning Stages, Inc. in Brevard, North Carolina, the Planning Stages Scholarship for Live Music Production emphasizes the importance of the creative professionals who make live performances happen.
This initiative aims to support students enrolled in college, community college, or vocational programs focused on live music event production, talent buying, and related disciplines. With a strong belief in the power of education, the scholarship will help build pathways for future professionals in the industry.
In her statement, Armbruster expressed the personal impact of her behind-the-scenes work on her career. �I�ve always found the greatest satisfaction in the planning, talent buying, coordination, and problem solving that allows artists and audiences to share a meaningful experience, without needing recognition for who made it happen,� she said. Her passion for this crucial aspect of the music industry has shaped her desire to help others embark on similar paths.
The scholarship will cover various educational expenses, including tuition and internships, with an initial award of $2,000 set to be granted in August for the fall semester of the 2026-27 academic year.
