WHO/WHAT: 2023 BMI R&B/HIP-HOP AWARDSBMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) is thrilled to celebrate the best in songwriting at the 2023 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards. Five-time GRAMMY� award-winning superstar rapper, executive and philanthropist Lil Wayne will honored as a BMI Icon, celebrating his illustrious career spanning over 20 years and incomparable influence on the genre and beyond.In addition, the songwriters behind some of the year’s biggest hits such as “BILLIE EILISH.,” “Break My Soul,” “First Class,” “pushin P,” “Super Gremlin,” “Wait for U” and “Woman,” among others, will be in attendance including, ATL Jacob, BLEU, Big Freedia, Doug E. Fresh Greg Camp, Rog�t Chahayed, Nija Charles, Flo Milli, Capella Grey, Gunna, Ja Rule, Juvenile, Tay Keith, Polow Da Don, Too Short, Tyga, Yeti Beats, Ying Yang Twins and many more. The private event, hosted by BMI President & CEO Mike O’Neill and BMI Vice President, Creative, Atlanta, Catherine Brewton, will also celebrate this historic event of 50 years of Hip-Hop with special tribute performances featuring hip-hop megastars whose contributions to the genre have made a significant impact throughout the past half-century.The 2023 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards will salute the songwriters and publishers of the previous year’s 35 most-performed R&B/Hip-Hop songs in the United States from BMI’s repertoire of more than 20.6 million musical works. BMI’s R&B/Hip-Hop Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Publisher of the Year and Producer of the Year will also be named during the ceremony.
