The City of Huntsville has commissioned a new study to assess the economic impact and growth of its music industry. This initiative represents a strategic move to further establish the city as a recognized music destination.
In collaboration with Sound Diplomacy, the city will conduct a 12-week analysis of its music ecosystem. This study aims to evaluate progress since the first music audit was completed in 2018 and will inform future strategies to enhance the local music scene.
The original 2018 audit provided a foundational framework that led to the establishment of the Huntsville Music Office and influenced key policy decisions regarding infrastructure, programming, and partnerships. Since then, significant developments such as the opening of The Orion Amphitheater, the introduction of major festivals like South Star, and the growth of independent venues and artists have marked a transformative period for Huntsville’s music landscape.
Sound Diplomacy will deliver a comprehensive database and interactive map detailing the city’s music ecosystem, alongside a high-level analysis of developments since 2018. The study will include case studies on notable events and venues, along with an updated economic impact assessment that quantifies the contributions of the music industry to jobs, tourism, and community enhancement.
This updated analysis is anticipated to guide the next phase of Huntsville’s music strategy, reinforcing the city’s ambition to become a prominent regional and national music hub.
