AI music generator Udio has made significant strides in the music industry, securing two major licensing agreements in late 2025 with Universal Music Group in October and Warner Music Group in November. These deals came as Udio settled copyright infringement lawsuits with both companies, paving the way for its AI music platform set to launch in 2026.
To enhance its integration into the music business, Udio is now on the lookout for a Head of Artist Partnerships, based in either Los Angeles or New York. This role will be crucial in fostering relationships with key industry stakeholders and expanding participation in Udio’s Artist Platform.
The successful candidate will be responsible for defining how artists engage with Udio during a critical phase of the company’s growth, working closely with top-tier artists, managers, labels, and publishers. They will oversee the entire process from initial discussions to onboarding and ongoing engagement.
In mid-2024, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) sued Udio and its competitor, Suno, for mass copyright infringement on behalf of the major record companies. Although Suno has also reached a licensing deal with Warner Music, it continues to face legal challenges from UMG, Sony Music Entertainment, and various European collecting societies.
The Head of Artist Partnerships will also collaborate with legal, product, marketing, and leadership teams to establish participation frameworks for artists and gather feedback to improve the platform. Udio aims to create new revenue streams for artists and songwriters while ensuring their work is protected.
Backed by prominent investors, Udio’s mission is to empower musical artists and enhance fan engagement. Following its settlements, Udio promises a reimagined subscription service that will allow users to create remixes, covers, and new songs using the voices and compositions of participating artists and songwriters, ensuring they are credited and compensated.
In addition to this, Udio plans to implement expanded protections for artists and songwriters ahead of its upcoming launch. The new hire will need to possess a strong network within the music industry and demonstrate a proven ability to negotiate and manage complex partnerships.
