Evening Will Also Pay Tribute to the 50^th Anniversary of Hip Hop

WHO/WHAT: 2023 BMI R&B/HIP-HOP AWARDSBMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) is thrilled to celebrate the best in songwriting at the 2023 BMI R&B/Hip Hop Awards. Five-time GRAMMY® award-winning superstar rapper, executive and philanthropist Lil Wayne will honored as a BMI Icon, celebrating his illustrious career spanning over 20 years and incomparable influence on the genre and beyond.In addition, the songwriters behind some of the year’s biggest hits such as “BILLIE EILISH.,” “Break My Soul,” “First Class,” “pushin P,” “Super Gremlin,” “Wait for U” and “Woman,” among others, will be in attendance including, ATL Jacob, BLEU, Big Freedia, Doug E. Fresh Greg Camp, Rogét Chahayed, Nija Charles, Flo Milli, Capella Grey, Gunna, Ja Rule, Juvenile, Tay Keith, Polow Da Don, Too Short, Tyga, Yeti Beats, Ying Yang Twins and many more. The private event, hosted by BMI President & CEO Mike O’Neill and BMI Vice President, Creative, Atlanta, Catherine Brewton, will also celebrate this historic event of 50 years of Hip Hop with special tribute performances featuring hip-hop megastars whose contributions to the genre have made a significant impact throughout the past half-century.The 2023 BMI R&B/Hip Hop Awards will salute the songwriters and publishers of the previous year’s 35 most-performed R&B/Hip Hop songs in the United States from BMI’s repertoire of more than 20.6 million musical works.
