The Live Music Society has announced the opening of applications for its fourth annual Music In Action grants, providing small independent music venues across the United States with the opportunity to secure funding of up to $50,000. These grants aim to enhance the venue experience for musicians, staff, and audiences while promoting long-term business sustainability within the independent music ecosystem.
Since its inception in 2020, the Live Music Society has allocated over $5 million to support initiatives that bolster the operational capacity of small venues. The Music In Action grants specifically target projects designed to grow earned revenue, expand audiences, and build networks for artists and the community. A significant emphasis is placed on projects that increase opportunities for historically marginalized communities, including BIPOC, Latinx, LGBTQ+, and disabled individuals.
Past recipients, such as the Floyd Country Store in Virginia and Opolis in Oklahoma, have utilized their grants to form partnerships with universities and create community-focused educational hubs, showcasing the potential impact of this funding on the local music economy. Venue owners and operators are encouraged to review eligibility criteria and begin the application process promptly to capitalize on this financial support for enhancing their business operations.
