Independent Music Drama for Selina Debuts in PH Cinemas

‘Songs for Selina,’ an independent drama that explores the complexities of power and fame within the music industry, is set to premiere in Philippine cinemas on March 18, 2026. The film features a soundtrack co-written and produced by notable Filipino artist Jay R, known as the King of R&B.

The film’s original score is composed by Emmy Award-winning Filipina composer Denise Santos. ‘Songs for Selina’ is presented by Jay R’s HomeWorkZ Entertainment and distributed by Black Cap Pictures, highlighting the collaboration between local talent and production companies.

Previously acquired by Amazon Prime US and Tubi for its North American release in 2025, the film stars an all-Filipino cast, including Mica Javier and Rachel Coates in the lead roles as Selina and Maya. The narrative follows the journey of these musical soulmates and childhood friends as they navigate the challenges posed by the competitive music industry.

The soundtrack features both solo and duet performances from the lead cast, with Jay R emphasizing that the songwriting process was influenced by his own career experiences, ensuring the music aligns closely with the film’s narrative. As an executive producer, Jay R advocates for independent storytelling, asserting the importance of diverse voices in the entertainment industry.
