Fayetteville State University’s Department of Performing and Fine Arts Uses Arts Grant To Support The Fine Arts Series

Fayetteville State University announces the Fine Arts
Series with the help of a grant in the amount of $4,500.00 from the Arts
Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County. 
The grant allows the Fine Arts Series to host several master classes for
students and the community to experience various forms of art with experienced
artist.

The Fayetteville State University- Fine Arts Series
events are curated based on the core curriculum for the Department of
Performing and Fine Arts. The department consist of majors in music, dance, art
and theatre. Each artist who participate in the Fine Art Series event host a
master’s class to give the participants some Q&A, performance tactics and how
to enhance their skill set.

“The Arts
Council is pleased to partner with Fayetteville State University in support of the
Fine Arts Series,” says Bob Pinson, Interim President and CEO of the Arts
Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County. “Project Support Grants for 2020-2021
will help fund 20 projects facilitated by 15 nonprofit organizations. These
projects help strengthen our communities through festivals and concerts, youth
education programs, arts exhibitions and workshops, and so much more.” FSU
Fine Art’s Series Support Grant from the Arts Council will help our department
for the entire season for the Masters of the Arts. Project Support
Grants increase opportunities for access to arts, science, cultural and
historical programming in Cumberland County. The grants are awarded to
nonprofit agencies in Cumberland County that demonstrate financial and
administrative stability.

Outreach and
Engagement Coordinator, Michelle Saunders said the Fine Arts Series: Masters of
the Arts will continue to reach the students and the community by providing
opportunities for engagement via Zoom. 
“The master classes allow the attendees to have a more intimate engagement
with the artist on how to enhanced the skills they are studying,” Saunders
said.   “Having the Fine Arts Series
online opens up the opportunity for the attendees to have a one on one experience
with the artist and not through a pre-recorded session.”

The Department of
Performing and Fine Arts is committed to building community through the
arts.  From gallery exhibits to
performances the Fine Arts Series brings nationally recognized speakers and
performers to campus; and throughout the year filling J.W. Seabrook Auditorium
and Butler Theater with the passion and drama of live theatre, symphony and
live concerts.
