Charli XCX Considers Transitioning from Music to Acting

Charli XCX has recently expressed her desire to step away from the music scene to focus on acting. This revelation comes shortly after the release of her critically acclaimed album, “Brat,” which has been hailed as one of the best dance records of all time.

During an appearance on the February 22 episode of Quenlin Blackwell’s show, “Feeding Starving Celebrities,” Charli candidly shared her thoughts on her career trajectory. When asked if she wanted to pursue acting more seriously, she responded enthusiastically, stating, “Yes, are you kidding? I want to quit music, babe, and act. What else is there to do?” This bold statement has sparked discussions among fans and industry insiders alike about her potential shift in focus.

Charli’s desire to explore acting is not entirely unexpected, especially considering the transformative impact of her latest album. “Brat” has garnered significant accolades, including Grammy wins for Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Dance Pop Recording for the hit single “Von Dutch.” Reflecting on this period of her life, Charli noted, “I had just come out of this huge change in my life where I’d made the album Brat, which opened me up to a whole new audience. I’d not experienced that scale of interest in what I had to say before and it was heavy, confusing and a very vulnerable change.”

In her conversation with Quenlin, Charli also hinted at her dream project, suggesting a film concept she described as an “ultimate it-girl Final Destination.” This playful idea showcases her creative spirit and desire to blend her musical background with her passion for film. Charli has previously explored this intersection of art forms through her mockumentary film, “The Moment,” where she humorously critiques the music industry.

While Charli is contemplating a shift towards acting, she has also been involved in various film projects, including her role in Gregg Araki’s “I Want Your Sex” and upcoming films like “The Gallerist” and “Faces of Death.” Despite her potential career change, fans are still hopeful for new music from the pop star, as she continues to navigate her artistic journey.
