According to Christian, his purchase at Barneys in April 2023, he was approached by police who questioned how “a young black man such as himself could afford to purchase such an expensive belt.” Despite presenting his identification, debit card, and the receipt, Christian was taken to a precinct where his identity and purchase were initially doubted. His identity was eventually verified by his bank, leading to his release.
The Aftermath and Lawsuit
