Modus Operandi

Potential clients find the fake pages and book appointments, often making small deposits. Clients realize they have been scammed when they do not hear back from the supposed stylist on the appointment day.

Impact on Legitimate Businesses

Real stylists like Porsche Hensley, who has been braiding hair for over 10 years and owns Divine Innovation 615 in Nashville, are affected. Hensley reported instances where clients arrived for appointments, only to find out they were scammed.

Precautions to Avoid Scams

BBB advises not to pay for the service in full before the appointment. Visit the stylist’s location before booking. Verify the stylist’s work by searching for them online and including the word “scam” after their name. Ask for the stylist’s license number and verify it.

Continuing the Business

Despite the scams, stylists like Porsche Hensley remain undeterred and continue their work.

Alamo Records Appoints Juliette Jones Chief Operating Officer


Alamo Records today announced the appointment of Juliette Jones to Chief Operating Officer. Based in New York, will report to Alamo Records’ Founder and CEO, Todd Moscowitz.
 
In this newly created role, Jones will work closely alongside Moscowitz to oversee Alamo’s business development, marketing and promotion efforts for the multi-genre artist roster. Additionally, will be responsible for leading day-to-day operations.
 
“In making the announcement, Moscowitz said, “Juliette’s deep understanding of the music industry and commitment to redefining the music space for artists and their fans will further support Alamo’s growth and evolution. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the Company.”

Moscowitz and Jones worked together at Warner Bros. Records where Jones was head of Urban Radio Promotion 10 years ago.

“I’m so excited to be working with Todd again. He is an incredible music man and executive with a proven track record of building businesses,” stated Jones. “I consider it a wonderful opportunity and privilege to join such a dynamic team at this time in the label’s development. Alamo has already achieved such tremendous success with Lil Durk, Rod Wave, Blackbear and other talented artists on the roster. I look forward to building upon that strong foundation.”

She started her music career more than 20 years ago at WBLS Radio in New York city.  Throughout her career, has worked with various record labels including RCA Records, Virgin Records and Jive Records, leading urban promotion strategies for artists such as Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Wale, Meek Mill, Jill Scott, among others. Most recently, Jones contributed to a successful streak of hits as Executive Vice President of Promotion at Atlantic Records since 2012.

Recognized by Billboard’s  “Women in Music” Power List and Variety’s “Hitmaker” List, Jones received the 2019 creative award from the National Sawdust Organization alongside David Byrne and Black Thought.
