Rapper, singer-songwriter, record producer, actor Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. has been professionally known as Snoop Doggy Dogg, Snoop Dogg, and last summer, he evolved into Snoop Lion. During a press conference in New York, Snoop described a spiritual awakening he experienced while in Jamaica. “I want to bury Snoop Dogg,” he said at the time, “and become Snoop Lion. You are the light; you are the lion.'”Fast forward several months later, Snoop faces a lawsuit from Bunny Wailer, who accuses the artist of “outright fraudulent use of Rastafari Community’s personalities and symbolism” and failure to meet “contractual, moral and verbal commitments”. Furthermore, the Rastafari Millennium Council has fired off a 7 page demand letter to the Long Beach, CA native. Snoop has sold over 30 million albums worldwide since the inception of his career in 1992.
If he does not provide “financial and moral support” they claim he promised as well as issue a public apology, both parties intend to file suit. Snoop has yet to publically comment on the matter.
