WHY DID POP ICON ADAM ANT VISIT DETROIT’S MOTOWN MUSEUM?(DETROIT, MI) October 22, 2012 – After playing a sold out show in metro Detroit as part of “The Blueblack Hussar” tour, his first US tour in 17 years, legendary pop icon and Grammy nominee Adam Ant visited The Motown Museum in Detroit including the famous Studio A where Motown recorded the 1964 anthem “Where Did Our Love Go”, the first number-one hit for The Supremes. Nineteen years later, in 1983, Adam performed the song on the NBC-televised program “Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever”, produced by Suzanne de Passe. Diana Ross actually danced onto the stage during Adam’s performance of her first big hit. The program would become famous not only for its reunion of Diana Ross and Supremes Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong, but also made musical history when Michael Jackson performed his now-famous Moonwalk for the first time. Adam also formed a friendship with Michael after famously hanging up on him. Michael called to ask where Adam purchased his signature military jackets that would later become a fashion staple in Michael’s closet. At the time, Adam thought his drummer was playing another practical joke, but Adam and Michael connected shortly afteR&Became friends.
