Spotify Raises Prices $2 Above Apple Music

Spotify is set to increase the prices of all its Premium plans beginning in February. The individual Premium plan will rise to $13 per month from $12, making it $2 more expensive than Apple Music, which is currently priced at $10.99 per month.

The student plan will now cost $7 per month (up from $6), and the Duo plan will increase to $19 per month (previously $17). Additionally, the family plan will see a price increase, now costing $22 per month, up from $20.

Subscribers will receive an email regarding the price increase, providing them the option to cancel if they choose not to pay the new rates. Spotify has stated that the price hike is necessary to maintain a high-quality service and support artists, a message they have conveyed in the past.

Although Spotify introduced Hi-Res audio at no extra cost last September, it still doesn’t match the audio quality specifications offered by competitors such as Apple Music and Tidal, which provide 24-bit / 192 kHz audio.
