Apple Music Surges with Record Subscriber Growth

Apple Music just had its best year ever, with explosive growth in subscribers and listeners. This shift signals its rising influence in the music market.

Apple Music reported on Monday that 2025 was its most successful year to date, achieving record highs in both listenership and new subscriber numbers. While Apple has yet to release specific growth statistics for its music streaming service, industry analysts estimate that Apple Music now boasts around 108 million paid subscribers worldwide. This figure, while significant, still falls short compared to Spotify’s impressive 281 million subscribers. Nevertheless, Apple Music’s 30-31% market share in the U.S. indicates it is closing in on Spotify’s lead in this key territory.

The tech giant also shared an impressive statistic regarding its Shazam app, which reached over 1 billion song recognitions monthly in 2025. This milestone highlights the app’s vital role in music discovery and engagement for users.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Apple Music unveiled a state-of-the-art recording studio and announced plans for further expansion beyond its existing ecosystem. New partnerships with major brands such as GM, TuneIn, and Chase are set to amplify Apple Music’s reach, delivering more content to listeners worldwide.

Among the new features introduced in 2025 are Lyrics Translation and Pronunciation, AutoMix, Library Pins, and in-app Replay stats. The Apple Music Sing feature has also seen enhancements, enabling users to turn their iPhones into microphones that project their voices through their TVs. Additionally, utilizing the Continuity Camera, users can now appear on-screen alongside lyrics and engaging visual effects.

As Apple Music continues to evolve and expand its offerings, its impact on the music industry landscape is becoming increasingly evident, positioning itself as a formidable contender in the streaming sector.
