Louis Carr Named President of BET

Louis Carr has been promoted to President of Black Entertainment Television (BET) while continuing in his role as President of BET Media Sales. Carr has been with BET for 36 years and has served as President of Media Sales for 21 years. In that role, he has overseen more than $9 billion in advertising sales and managed partnerships with major corporations including Procter & Gamble, Unilever, McDonald’s, General Motors, Facebook, and Apple.

Carr is recognized for helping establish BET as a leading media brand for Black audiences through his expertise in linear television, digital, and social platforms. He is known for using data-driven insights to shape marketing strategies for the network and its advertisers.

Carr is the founder of the Louis Carr Internship Foundation (LCIF), which provides paid internships aimed at improving diversity in corporate America. He has also created The Blueprint Men’s Summit, The Blueprint Connect Podcast, and the WayMaker initiative. He is the author of two books and was inducted into the 2023 Advertising Hall of Fame. Carr has served on multiple advertising industry boards and currently sits on the boards of Cedar Fair, Drake University, and the United States Track and Field Foundation.

Carr holds a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from Drake University.
