Academy Award®–winner Nicole Kidman has signed on to star in The Young People, directed by Osgood Perkins. The film, which will be released theatrically by NEON in the U.S., also stars Lola Tung and Nico Parker, along with a diverse ensemble cast that includes Brendan Hines, Cush Jumbo, Heather Graham, Johnny Knoxville, Lexi Minetree, Lily Collias, and Tatiana Maslany.
Kidman, renowned for her roles in The Hours, Being the Ricardos, and Moulin Rouge!, has a storied career that includes an Academy Award® win and five nominations, multiple Emmy Awards®, and numerous accolades for her work in television and film.
Her recent credits include Babygirl and series such as Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers. She will soon be seen in Scarpetta on Prime Video and Margo’s Got Money Trouble on Apple TV+, both of which she is executive producing.
The Young People marks the latest collaboration between Perkins and NEON, following the success of their previous films Longlegs and The Monkey. Perkins, who is also producing this new project with Chris Ferguson under their production banner, Phobos, has partnered again with NEON for his upcoming film Keeper, which is scheduled for release on November 14.
NEON, known for its bold and successful film releases, is co-financing The Young People with Lyrical Media and holds international distribution rights. The plot of the film remains under wraps, adding an air of mystery to its upcoming release.
This collaboration follows NEON’s recent acquisitions, including EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert and The Christophers, both slated for release in 2026. Additionally, NEON is preparing to release films such as Shelby Oaks, Sentimental Value, Splitsville, Together, and Raoul Peck’s Orwell: 2+2=5.
The studio’s films have also made waves at the 98th Academy Awards, with five films selected for the Best International Feature Film category, including It Was Just an Accident, The Secret Agent, No Other Choice, and Sirât.
Meanwhile, Lyrical Media is also wrapping up post-production on Onslaught and The Death of Robin Hood, starring Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, and Bill Skarsgård, while developing other notable projects like Funny Story, an adaptation of Emily Henry’s bestselling romantic comedy.
