Underland is a cinematic documentary based on the bestselling book Underland by Robert Macfarlane. This film takes us on a profound journey into the hidden world beneath our feet, exploring realms of fear, darkness, and wonder rarely witnessed by human eyes. Beginning beneath an ancient ash tree, the documentary follows “astronauts of the underworld” as they venture into sacred caves, submerged storm drains, melting glaciers, underwater burial chambers, and a cutting-edge underground laboratory designed to uncover the secrets of the universe.
Narrated by Oscar-nominated Sandra Hüller, Underland offers a poetic exploration of these subterranean realms, ultimately providing a thought-provoking vision of our relationship with the fragile Earth we inhabit. The film will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival 2025 as part of the Documentary Competition.
