Industry Experts Reassure: The Sky is Not Falling in Tyler Perry’s Sushi Business

I want to thank some of my great industry contacts who consistently look out for me and KNOW from a distance when something is up with me. The calls, great invitations and “just checking in on you” emails this week were so timely (laugh).I have to pull out of the industry temporarily at times because there is a general consensus that ‘The Sky is Falling’ and as an entrepreneur, I ABSOLUTELY can’t afford to let that negative input overshadow my thinking, once I accept that to be true, I’m basically out of business, so when I feel like I’m getting that negative input from too many ends, I have to pull out and focus on something else more positive. The industry is NOT going to die but the toilet will flush and there will be a fresh new supply of water to start off with to REBUILD it. I can honestly tell you from experience, you HAVE to watch the way you think and what you say. I do know people in this very industry right now who are making more money than they have ever made. I know things APPEAR grim but you MUST THINK POSITIVE and try to be innovative in making sure YOU will have longevity in the industry. I have yet to meet the person who has told me “I’m going to come up with a concept for artists to get massive exposure for their music,” or I’m going to create technology for the labels that will make it almost impossible to steal music,” or “I’m going to come up with new ways for radio to make money,” or “I’m going to personally tell Cathy Hughes that syndicated radio is what’s helping AND hurting Radio One the MOST!” (OK, I threw that last one in there) but I’m calling on all the POSITIVE industry thinkers.. Are you out there? if so PLEASE let it be known.As things were slow this week for Radio Facts , I pulled away and I am writing a business plan for a station right now on a way to incorporate local artists, make money and garner audience at the same time per an idea I shot their way, they were immediately interested and I see a way it can be done. So THAT’s what I’ve been focusing on along with a new business blog, school and more. Do you see what I mean now when I say I can’t afford to allow negative thinking into my business life? I have to motivate MYSELF and it’s almost impossible when everybody keeps telling me… ‘The Sky is Falling.”I just mentioned Tyler Perry because he’s on Extreme Makeover and that’s a POSITIVE show (laugh)Finally, I’ve discovered 2 black friends who like Sushi (hallowed be thy name). I LOVE Sushi and I have not seen these industry friends in a while so I’m taking my big ass to the gym to get a great workout in before meeting them this afternoon for a Sushi pig-out. Since one of them is an international celebrity now, I will conveniently forget my wallet (laugh)…Let me go and sell some ads y’all… Let’s all be happy and celebrate the GOOD things in our lives!
