Introduction

Scammers are targeting clients looking to get their hair braided by using real stylists’ work and creating fake social media pages.

Reports of Scams

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is receiving reports of scams targeting individuals wanting braids. Scammers take pictures from legitimate stylists and post them on fake social media pages.

Modus Operandi

Potential clients find the fake pages and book appointments, often making small deposits. Clients realize they have been scammed when they do not hear back from the supposed stylist on the appointment day.

Impact on Legitimate Businesses

Real stylists like Porsche Hensley, who has been braiding hair for over 10 years and owns Divine Innovation 615 in Nashville, are affected. Hensley reported instances where clients arrived for appointments, only to find out they were scammed.

Precautions to Avoid Scams

BBB advises not to pay for the service in full before the appointment. Visit the stylist’s location before booking. Verify the stylist’s work by searching for them online and including the word “scam” after their name. Ask for the stylist’s license number and verify it.

Continuing the Business

Despite the scams, stylists like Porsche Hensley remain undeterred and continue their work.

Conclusion

Scammers exploiting the popularity of hair braiding are causing issues for both clients and legitimate stylists. Clients are advised to take precautions to ensure they are booking authentic services.

Tickets for the “Wear Your Crown” worldwide tour go on sale to the general public on Friday, November 22nd at 9AM local time. More information and tickets available at www.ohwondermusic.com.No One Else Can Wear Your Crown was written and self-produced in Oh Wonder’s own home studio, before being co-mixed with Cenzo Townnd (Bat For Las, Christine & The Queens, Jungle). In its 10-track entirety, it’s a record that explores a host of different emotions and experiences – some forged on the road on their last world tour, which included 300,000 world-wide tickets sold, and others from taking a break and reflecting on all that they’ve accomplid as a band so far, which includes a Top 10 album, a billion streams worldwide and global sold out tours. It’s therefore unsurprising that No One Else Can Wear Your Crown has an overriding message of self-acceptance, empowerment and joy. It’s there in the Carpe Diem chorus of first single “Hallelujah” – a song of defiance that Josephine and Anthony wrote for anyone that has ever been told they can’t do something. This energy and refreshing positivity are the product of some well-earned time off, and throughout their new album, Oh Wonder prove themselves a band able to capture those extreme highs and lows of daily life. It’s difficult not to leave No One Else Can Wear Your Crown feeling uplifted and entirely convinced of the power of Oh Wonder. Recharged and ready for the next chapter, Oh Wonder appear more able than ever to just make it work: whether navigating the big questions of how to live and work with your partner down to the everyday drama of what happens to your dog now you have to go back on tour. No One Else Can Wear Your Crown is a candid, restorative set that offers a welcome antidote to our turbulent times, from a band firmly writing their own bright future.
