WKKV/V100.7 has collaborated with Milwaukeeรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs own Lorenzo Owens in efforts to re-launch its 2007 Peace on the Streets campaign.

The new single from Oprahรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs pop-star challenge finalist Lorenzo Owens entitled รขโ‚ฌล“Better Daysรขโ‚ฌย, will be this yearรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs focal point for the campaign, which addresses the problem of violence and spreads the message of peace.

รขโ‚ฌล“The first time that I heard the single, I felt there was such a connection to the high rate of crime occurring here in Milwaukee,รขโ‚ฌย said Program Director Bailey Coleman, รขโ‚ฌล“I knew that it would be the perfect bond to further uplift our continuing project for peace.รขโ‚ฌย

WKKV added the campaign as an extension to its annual Jam for Peace concert, but further initiated the campaign in response to the mob-beating of Samuel McClain. The Peace on the Street campaign features hip-hop and R&B artist appearances at different locations in the community, where they talk about the alternatives to violence, while the concert provide an array of peaceful hip-hop and R&B performances. The concert is in its 16th year and this year will take place Sat., Aug. 18th at the Bradley Center.

Past artist participations with the Peace on the Streets campaign include: Thatรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs So Ravenรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs Orlando Brown, Paul Wall, Sammie, Young Joc, Latoya Luckett and many more.
