U.S. Marshals and Texas officials are asking for the publicโs help in their search for a Texas woman who allegedly killed a professional cyclist.
According to a regional report from KXAN-TV, an arrest warrant was previously issued for Kaitlin Marie Armstrong in connection with the death of cyclist Anna Moriah Wilson. Armstrong has now been accused of first-degree murder, according to an arrest affidavit cited in the report.
The Austin Police Department said in a statement earlier this month that officers had responded on May 11 just before 10 p.m. local time to an emergency call from a woman who said had โreturned home to find her friend bleeding and unconscious.โ The victim, who was later identified as Wilson, was pronounced dead that same evening.
Previously, police said an initial investigation showed Wilson had been shot inside the home. An official cause of death said died due to multiple gunshot wounds. The U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force has since confirmed it is also assisting in the investigation after they received a request from the Austin Police Department.
โMembers of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force are actively conducting a fugitive investigation and pursuing leads on the whereabouts of Armstrong,โ the agency said in a statement on May 20.
It has been reported that Armstrong has removed her social media accounts and was said in an arrest affidavit to have โnot been seen or heard fromโ since May 13.
Armstrongโs friend, who is not named in reports, is said to have told police they recalled Armstrong becoming โso angry wanted to kill Wilson.โ
Security footage obtained from a neighbor is alleged to show Armstrongโs vehicle arriving at Wilsonโs residence shortly after Colin Strickland, whom was in a romantic relationship with, dropped Wilson off around 8:35 p.m. local time.
A GoFundMe page has been launce by the family of Anna Moriah Wilson.
