Radio Facts: Sharon Burston, former administrative assistant for singer Smokey Robinson, passed Sunday, October 10, 2010 at 12:15 PM PST in her Woodland Hills, CA home.
Burston, who was also Robinson’s niece, died after suffering from pancreatic and liver cancer. She was 67. Roland Bynum, legendary broadcaster at KJLH-FM, Los Angeles, and Burston’s sister, says she leaves two daughters, Bridgette and Kimberly, four brothers, three sisters and other relatives.
Burston’s husband , Lee Artist, preceded her in death in 1989.
She served as Robinson’s administrative assistant for 20 years and was a well-known member of the Motown family. Burston was born in Detroit, MI on May 22, 1943. Funeral services are pending.
