Saban Films Acquires Two Major Titles from Constantin Film

Saban Films has announced the acquisition of rights to two high-profile films from Munich-based Constantin Film. The deal includes North American and UK rights to Tim Fehlbaum’s science fiction epic, Tides [formerly Haven: Above Sky], and North American rights to Mike P. Nelson’s horror reboot, Wrong Turn. Both films are being showcased for international buyers at the American Film Market (AFM) by Mister Smith Entertainment, which is handling global sales.

Tides: A Sci-Fi Masterpiece with High Stakes

From the mind of Executive Producer Roland Emmerich, Tides unfolds in a near-future setting. The plot centers around a female astronaut who becomes stranded on a long-decimated Earth and is faced with a critical decision regarding the survival of the planet’s remaining population. The film boasts a stellar cast, including Nora Arnezeder (Mozart in the Jungle), Iain Glen (Game of Thrones), Sarah-Sofie Boussnina (Mary Magdalene), Sope Dirisu (The Huntsman: Winter’s Tale), Sebastian Roché (The Man in the High Castle), and Joel Basman (Land of Mine).

The production team for Tides features Thomas Wöbke and Philipp Trauer from BerghausWöbke Filmproduktion, Ruth Waldburger for Vega Film, and Constanze Guttmann for Constantin Film. Executive producers include Martin Moszkowicz, Christoph Müller, and Roland Emmerich, ensuring a top-tier production that promises to captivate audiences.

Wrong Turn: A Thrilling Franchise Reboot

The Wrong Turn reboot revisits the Appalachian Trail, where a group of friends encounters a mysterious mountain community known as “The Foundation,” which has thrived in isolation for centuries. The film, penned by Alan B. McElroy—the screenwriter of the original Wrong Turn—features a compelling cast that includes Charlotte Vega (The Lodgers), Matthew Modine (Stranger Things, 47 Meters Down), Damian Maffei (The Strangers: Prey at Night, Haunt), and Bill Sage (Hap and Leonard).

Produced by Robert Kulzer of Constantin Film in collaboration with James Harris of Tea Shop Productions, the reboot retains its roots in the franchise’s horror legacy while offering fresh thrills for a new generation of fans.

    Industry Acclaim and Strategic Expansion

Bill Bromiley, Saban Films’ President, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisitions, noting the long-standing relationship with Constantin Film and Mister Smith Entertainment. “Tides is a sci-fi epic that we know our audiences will love, and Wrong Turn is a much-anticipated reboot that will not disappoint,” Bromiley stated. The deals for Tides and Wrong Turn were negotiated by Bromiley, alongside David Garrett of Mister Smith Entertainment and Nick Hanks, Senior EVP Business & Legal Affairs at Constantin Film.
