Popular Florida DJ Sheldon Martinez Dies 43-year-old Sheldon Martinez, a popular Florida DJ and Florida A&M alum died on May 18, 2013 in a car crash. He was popularly known as DJ Saxwell and died from injuries he received from the car accident. According to local police, Martinez’s car traveled across a patch of grass, two lanes of traffic and then flipped over into a canal. Police have not identified what caused him to lose control of the vehicle. There will be a fundraiser held in Martinez’ honor on Wednesday, May 22 at Loft, 55 W. Church Street at 6 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to the Martinez family. For more information about the fundraiser call 407-575-7903. Martinez’s funeral will be held Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Faithworld Church, 7601 Forest City Rd., Altamonte Springs, Fla.
