The Incident in Teaneck, NJ
In a tragic incident in Teaneck, NJ, a young mother named Khaleen Brown Anderson experienced a nightmare when a loose Pit Bull attacked her 4-year-old daughter. The child had just been unbuckled from her car seat when the dog, roaming freely in the neighborhood, pounced. The horrifying situation left the mother frantic and desperate to protect her daughter.
A Heroic Rescue
As the attack occurred, a nearby plumber, Micheal Policastro, heard the mother’s screams and rushed to the scene. His first instinct was to kick the dog in an attempt to stop the assault. However, the Pit Bull turned and faced him, showing no fear, and appeared ready to attack. At that moment, Policastro changed his approach and began shouting at the dog. The dog, startled by his loud voice, ran away, ending the attack.
The Aftermath and Consequences
The child, though physically unharmed, is now emotionally scarred by the incident. The trauma has left her unable to sleep, often crying in fear. The dog’s owner, Jason Evans, who lives nearby, was issued two summonses for the incident. The Pit Bull was impounded, and a judge will decide its fate. Evans has expressed regret over the event and is hopeful that his dog will be returned to him.
He claims that the dog was let out to use the bathroom, but a lock on the gate may have failed, allowing the dog to escape. Evans now promises to take extra precautions to prevent such incidents in the future, such as installing a padlock to secure the gate and ensure his dog stays inside.
