The one thing I remember most about this pic is that we were at an industry event in Chicago in August of 2001. Mary was hanging out that day promoting her new CD. Mary was very laid back and cool and whatever that “it” factor is that people describe about celebrities, is one of the only stars I have ever met and talked to that has that. It’s something that separates them from the rest. Ironically, this was the same weekend that Aaliyah died in the plane crash, reps from her label wanted her to come to this event but had previously booked the video shoot for “Rock the Boat” already.
