Cox Media Group (“CMG”) today announced that Jacksonville’s mayor, Lenny Curry, welcomed 95.1 WAPE’s Dex Mitchell and Barbie T to the city in honor of the duo’s new morning show.

The proclamation states, “95.1 WAPE has been an icon in Jacksonville’s radio sphere for generations. Formerly known as “The Mighty AM 690,” WAPE has been a leader in music broadcast since the 1960s.” It goes on to say, “Both Barbie T and Dex are experts in community-building, and are guaranteed to bring energy, value, and inspiration to Jacksonville’s morning listeners.”
In addition to Curry, the hosts were welcomed by Tennika Hughes from CMG’s Action News Jax, four-time Olympic Gold Medalist swimmer and Jacksonville native, Ryan Murphy, and St. Augustine Mayor, Nancy Sikes-Kline.
Mitchell and Whitmire have been hosting mornings together since July 2017, where they started at Hot 98.1 WHZT in Williamston, South Carolina.
Listeners can hear “The Dex and Barbie T Morning Show” weekday mornings on 95.1 WAPE from 5 am to 10 am.
