Black Woman: Confederate Flag Means Freedom and Choice

With the Marines banning the Confederate flag being flown on any of their bases and several statues honoring the Confederacy coming down, I wonder how people who call themselves “Flaggers” are feeling. This has to be a tough time for them as their world seems to be changing rapidly. We revisit the story of Karen Cooper, a former Nation of Islam member, who feels the Confederate flag is a symbol of freedom against governmental tyranny. She is a proud “Flagger and speaks about it thoroughly in the video from a few years back.” Check out her 4 minute documentary on why she supports the Confederate flag. Way before Kanye said it, Karen believed slavery was a choice. Does she have a point?
