PHOTOS: BMI Brings “How I Wrote That Song(R)” Panel To Billboard Latin Music Week

    BMI presented its signature “How I Wrote That Song®” panel during Billboard Week on Tuesday, September 21, at Faena Forum in Miami. This year’s line-up featured women of regional Mexican music including Latin GRAMMY -winning songstress Ana Bárbara, up-and- Mexican sensation Ivonne Galaz, Latin GRAMMY-nominated rising  Lupita Infante and one of Billboard‘s “Latin Artists to Watch” Adriana Ríos. The conversation was moderated by BMI’s Director of Creative, Latin, Teresa Romo.

    Throughout the panel, the talented all-female ensemble shared the stories behind some of their impactful , reflected on the state of the regional Mexican music and talked about some of the barriers they’ve faced in this traditionally male-dominated field. Ana Bárbara confessed that the topic of heartbreak inspires her to write songs and explained that songwriting is a form of expressing herself and releasing what feels.

    Lupita Infante elaborated on the faced while finding her identity as a Mexican American and how special it is to carry on the Infante dynasty. Adriana Ríos spoke on how sets herself apart and reflected on the songs that ‘s written, noting that “Dónde Están?” a song about , has fulfilled her the most. Ivonne Galaz runs to the beat of her own drum and during the conversation expressed that always wanted to be different and not follow whatever was considered traditional.

    Galaz stated, “I used to listen to Chavela Vargas and other artists that have different styles and weren’t afraid to reveal their true selves. You always have to be yourself.” Billboard Latin Music Week concludes this Saturday, September 25. For more information, click here
